PULLMAN, Wash.- The Washington State University men's and women's basketball teams will hold Midnight Mayhem Friday, Oct. 14 at Bohler Gym for the third-straight year, to celebrate the official start of the 2011-12 season. Activities begin at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Fans will receive glow sticks, while supplies last, and the first 300 spectators will each receive a free t-shirt.
The event, which is one of many during WSU's Homecoming week, will kick off with introductions of women's basketball head coach June Daugherty and men's basketball head coach Ken Boneand their 2011-12 teams, respectively. After introductions, the women's team will hold a three-point contest and crown a new long-range champion. The men's basketball team will be showcasing their skills in a team scrimmage, and wowing the crowd with a high-flying slam dunk contest.
After the contests are over, don't miss the unveiling of the 2011-12 men's and women's basketball posters. At the end of the event, student-athletes and coaches will be available to sign the posters.
In addition to basketball activities, there will be a disc jockey and performances by WSU's spirit squad and dance team, the Crimson Girls. Prizes will be offered all night with contests for audience members. Come show your Cougar pride and support the men's and women's basketball teams. Students will also be able to sign up for ZZU CRU at the event and pick up their t-shirts if they've signed up but not received their shirt.
Homecoming weekend will be jam-packed, highlighted by the Cougar football team's matchup with the Stanford Cardinal, currently ranked fourth in the USA Today poll and seventh in the Associated Press Poll, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.
