PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University incoming freshman women's basketball player Shalie Dheensaw has been invited to participate in the Canadian Junior National Team Assessment Camp held at University of Toronto - Mississauga in Mississauga, Ontario, Apr. 21-25.

Following the camp, Dheensaw, a 6-3 forward out of Victoria, B.C., who will join the Cougars this fall, will wait to hear from the Team Canada Junior National Team's coaching staff on whether she will be selected to participate in the team's training camp July 7-14 where the final 12-player roster will be picked. The Junior National Team will head to Puerto Montt, Chile to play in an exhibition tournament July 17-19 and then compete in the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women July 21-31.

"We are very excited and extremely proud of Shalie to have this opportunity to earn a spot on the Canadian Junior National Team," stated WSU head coach June Daugherty. "We know she will represent Washington State University well and wish her the best of luck."

Dheensaw has started for the Canadian U16 and U17 the past two summers, respectively, helping Canada to a second place finish at the FIBA Americas U16 World Championship Qualifying Tournament in 2009. Last summer, Dheensaw led the Canadian U17 National Team in rebounding and was second in scoring during the team's appearance at the FIBA U17 World Championship in France.
