Women's Tennis Players Receive Tough Draw At Pac-10 Championship

PULLMAN, Wash. - The road to the Pac-10 Championship for members of the Washington State women's tennis team will be a rough one when the tournament begins Thursday in Ojai, Calif.

Seniors Melissa Pine and Patrycja Gajdzik along with junior Ana Maria Moura open singles play Thursday while Gajdzik and Moura team up for doubles play beginning Friday along with Pine and junior partner Tamara Filipovic.

Pine opens singles play at 8 a.m. Thursday against Stanford's Laura Granville, the third-ranked player in the country. Gajdzik plays at 9:30 a.m. against California's Amy Jensen, ranked tenth in the nation. Moura's match begins at 12:30 p.m. against Lauren Kalvaria of Stanford, who is ranked 13th nationally.

The round of 16 for singles will be played at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Friday's doubles action pits Gajdzik and Moura against Granville and Keiko Tokuda, the number seven ranked pair in the country at 11 a.m. Pine and Filipovic play at 12:30 p.m. against the duo of Kalvaria and Gabriela Lastra, currently ranked 24th nationally.

The doubles quarterfinals begin Friday at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
