STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Lawrence Hill scored 20 points and Stanford snapped a three-game losing streak, beating Washington State 65-54 on Thursday night.
Anthony Goods added 13 points and a career-high seven assists as the Cardinal (24-6, 4-6 Pac-10) avoided their longest losing streak in 16 years. Will Paul contributed a career-high 13 points.
The Cougars held Stanford without a field goal the first four minutes in building a seven-point lead. Hill scored 11 of Stanford's first 17 points to keep things close.
Paul hit a 3-pointer with 1:36 left in the first half to give the Cardinal a slim lead, which they held the rest of the way. It was one of three long range shots for Paul, who made all five of his shots overall. Paul had never made more than one 3-pointer in any previous game.
Stanford led by as many as 17 points in the second half.
The victory reversed Stanford's 55-54 loss at Washington State earlier in the season, one of three 1-point setbacks for the Cardinal on the road in conference play.
Washington State has dropped eight of the past 11 meetings with Stanford.
