NEW ORLEANS - The 2011 Washington State University women's track and field team is one of the 164 best scholastic women's teams in NCAA Division I according to the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
With a grade point average of 3.17, this is the seventh time the Cougar women's track and field team has been nationally honored with a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award. To be considered for the honor, a team must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship Meet and have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.
Earlier this month, four WSU women student-athletes were honored individually by the USTFCCCA for academic excellence: thrower Ashley Kenney (junior, Spokane Valley, Wash., high jumper Holly Parent (sophomore, Victoria, B.C.), javelin thrower Marissa Tschida (senior, Missoula, Mont.), and steeplechaser Ruby Roberts (freshman, Kingston, Wash.).
