SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -

Second Round Results.

Freshman Mallory Kent and sophomore Emma Betland each fired a score of 78 to lead Washington State University during second-round play Tuesday at the 2011 Bruin Wave Invitational.

As a team the Cougars shot a second-round score of 323 for a two-day total of 642 and enter Wednesday's final round in 15th place. and in 14th place. Co-host UCLA continues to lead by a wide margin as the Bruins enter Wednesday with a nine-stroke lead over the other co-host, Pepperdine. The Waves fired an even-par 288 Tuesday, the best round of the day.

Kent's 78 (+6) marks a three-stroke improvement from Monday as she leads all Cougar golfers with a two-round score of 159 (+15). Betland had the biggest improvement over the opening round as her second round score was five strokes better and left her tied for 66th with a score of 161 (+17).

Tied with Betland are a pair of teammates as junior Kristen Allard and sophomore Ali Thompson also have two-day scores of 161. Allard shot an 86 Tuesday while Thompson shot an 81. Rounding out the Cougar lineup is sophomore Ellen Park, who carded a 90 Tuesday for a two-day total of 173, putting her 82nd.

Playing as an individual was senior Allison Travis, who shot an 82 for the second consecutive day. Travis has a two-day score of 164 and is tied for 74th.

The final round of the Bruin Wave Invitational begins Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.
