PULLMAN, Wash. -- Junior Mike Bush (Riverside, Calif.) made a free throw with 5.5 seconds left to provide Washington State a 63-62 win over Oregon Thursday night.

With the game tied 62-62, Bush, who finished with 12 points, drove the lane and was fouled setting the stage for him to cap a see-saw final seven and half minutes that featured five ties and five lead changes.

A three-pointer by sophomore Jerry McNair (Torrance, Calif.) with 2:24 left put the Cougars (10-12, 3-9) on top 60-58 with 2:24 remaining.

After Frederick Jones tied the game with a layup, McNair answered with a layup at the 1:34 mark to give WSU a 62-60 advantage. The Cougars held the lead until Bryan Bracey, who poured in a game-high 25 points, tied the game with a pair of free throws with 33.9 seconds left.

"Tonight's game was very entertaining for our fans," WSU head coach Paul Graham said. "Every time we come on this floor, our crowd gets better.

"Tonight I was really proud of our guys," Graham added. "There were times when they could have given in, but they never gave up."

Sophomore David Adams (Tacoma) scored a team-high 16 points off the bench for the Cougars, with eight points coming in each half. Junior J Locklier (Rock Hill, S.C.) narrowly missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Jones added 14 points for Oregon (12-10, 3-9), which lost for the fourth consecutive game.

The win, coupled with the Washington State women's 77-76 win over Oregon in Eugene marked the first time since January 21, 1993 that both the Cougars men's and women's basketball teams defeated the Ducks the same day.

Washington State hosts Oregon State at 7:07 p.m. Saturday in a game that will be televised by FOX Sports Net.
