FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Washington State swimmer Talor Whitaker continued her success during the second day of the Pac-10 Championships, Thursday, setting a school record in the 200 individual medley.

Whitaker finished the preliminary swim in 2:01.22, which set a season-best for the Chesterton, Ind., native. A few hours later, Whitaker was back in the pool for the finals where she finished second in the "C" final by touching the wall in 2:00.42, besting her previous record by just over half of a second.

Though Whitaker highlighted the event with her record-breaking performance, four other Cougar swimmers achieved personal feats during the race. Sophomore Shelbi Luchini finished 29th overall and jumped to sixth place on the WSU all-time top-10 list with a time of 2:04.06. Danielle Palumbo, Taylor Indahl and Sarah Hicks each set lifetime-best times in the event as well.

Senior Rugile Mileisyte led all WSU swimmers in the 50 freestyle, taking 14th place overall. Freshmen Anne Kenney, Taylor Ditty and sophomore Kelsey Bruggman each set lifetime bests during the preliminary session.

In the 500 freestyle, senior Rachael Krager was the top Cougar finisher with a season-best 5:05.73, while freshmen Heather Morlan and Lora Lougee each set lifetime bests in the event.
