PULLMAN, Wash. --- Washington State quarterback Josh Swogger completed 13 of 18 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown Friday evening in the Cougars' final fall scrimmage at Martin Stadium. "We moved the ball up and down the field pretty well. I thought we looked pretty good," WSU Head Coach Bill Doba said. The scrimmage, which was a glorified game of two-hand touch, lasted a little over an hour and began exactly one week before kickoff of the Cougars' opener at New Mexico. Jerome Harrison led all rushers with 90 yards and a score on eight carries. Chris Bruhn added 24 yards on five carries. "If we can get Allen Thompson back, we will be pretty deep at running back," Doba said. "We like the way Jerome Harrison has come along. Chris Bruhn is a big, strong kid and Kevin McCall is pretty good, too. There are four kids that can play there. Brandon Asuega-Stark will probably travel. He is another pretty good back." Marty Martin hauled in six passes for 39 yards, while sophomore Chris Jordan led in yardage with 64 on three receptions. Jason Hill caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Swogger. The Cougars' next practice will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. WSU opens the 2004 season at New Mexico Friday, Sept. 3. DOBA QUOTES The kicking game... "We will make a decision on that next week. Loren Langley has a little bit more consistency in the short range and Graham Siderius has a little bit stronger leg. We have been charting them and we will release those statistics. We really want to chart this last week." Depth at defensive tackle... "Ropati Pitoitua, Aaron Johnson, and Odell Howard have stepped up and we like those guys behind Steve Cook." Practice Saturday... "Tomorrow is an important day. We are going to practice hard. We are taking pictures in the morning and then we will have a good, padded practice in the afternoon." Battle at cornerback opposite Karl Paymah... "Alex Teems looks like he has the job. He has had a nice camp and a good spring before that. He is doing a nice job for us."
