KIBBIE DOME HOME FOR LAST CHANCE MEET: The Washington State University indoor track and field teams compete this weekend in limited numbers at the Idaho Last Chance Meet at Moscow's Kibbie Dome...field events begin Friday afternoon, with the discus) at 1 p.m...the men's pole vault starts at 5 p.m. with the running events and other field events set for 6 p.m...Saturday, March 2, field events begin at 9 a.m. with running events set for 9:30 a.m...the final event, the 4x400m relays, are set to begin Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES: Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 29th season with the Cougar track program (eighth year as a head coach, seventh year as mentor to the combined men's and women's program)...he is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell, and assistant coaches Dr. James Li, Mark Macdonald, Kris Grimes, and Francesca Green...volunteer coaches are Dan O'Brien and Bernard Lagat.

LAST WEEK HIGHLIGHTS: The Washington State men's track and field team finished second and the women's team was third at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships at the Walkup Skydome on the Northern Arizona University campus at Flagstaff. Friday night, freshman Danny Wolf, from Reno, Nevada, used a last lap surge to win the 3000m race in a time of 8:44.41. For the fourth consecutive week, Brittany Hinchcliffe broke her own freshman school record in the weight throw with a fifth-place toss of 56-4 3/4. Anthony Buchanan broke his school record in the 200m dash with a preliminary time of 21.07. Saturday, freshman Schquay Brignac won the women's high jump and Whitney Evans was third, both clearing personal-best and NCAA Automatic Qualifying marks of 6-feet even. Anna Blue claimed the only other event title for the women winning the mile in a time of 5:03.45. Ellannee Richardson finished third in the women's 200m dash with an PR and NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 24.00 seconds. Erin Reed (Woodland Hills, Calif.) was fourth (24.13) and Tiffany Giles eighth (24.99). Arizona's Brianna Glenn won the 200m with an NCAA AQ of 23.40. Shannon Rance finished fifth in the women's shot put but with a PR and NCAA PQ throw of 51-1. Anson Henry and Buchanan went one-two in the men's 60m dash with NCAA PQ times of 6.65 and 6.67 respectively. In the 200m dash, UCLA's Michael Lipscomb was the winner in 20.99 with Henry second with an NCAA PQ time of 21.18, and Buchanan third in 21.30. The men's distance medley relay team of Jim Neeway, Dan Brink, Jon Welsh and Wolf provided ten points with a first place finish in a time of 10:19.26.
