PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State women's soccer squad will travel to northern California to face Santa Clara Friday at 8 p.m. and Pacific Sunday at noon.

The Cougars, coming off a 4-0 victory in their season opener with Eastern Washington, will have a challenging weekend ahead of them. Santa Clara is ranked No. 3 in the nation and defeated Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 5-0 Tuesday to open its season.

WSU has a 0-4-1 record against the Broncos, including a 3-0 loss last season at home.

"It would be an understatement to say we have our hands full," said WSU coach Dan Tobias. "It will take a huge commitment to come out with a victory. The key for us is to step onto the field with the mentality of not giving them much space and time."

Pacific defeated San Jose State 5-1 in its season opener and will face Sacramento State Friday before hosting the Cougars Sunday.

"Pacific is a very good team which possesses a lot of weapons," said Tobias. "They have some offensive threats. It will be a tough match coming off Friday night with Santa Clara but it will be a good road trip."

Three Dot Notes - The Cougars had 27 shots on goal in their first win of the season, while Eastern Washington only mustered one shot on goalSophomore Deka Dewitt (Auburn, Wash.) scored two goals against EWU to post her second career multiple game matchDewitt's first multiple goal match came last season with a pair of unassisted scores against Oregon State on Oct. 10.
