TEMPE, Ariz. - Washington State University shot a team score of 315 during second-round play at the 2011 Pacific-10 Conference Women's Golf Championships Monday, played on the par 72, 6,230-yard Karsten Golf Course.
Monday's score marked an eight-stroke improvement for WSU from Sunday's first round as the Cougars have a two-round total of 638. First-day leader USC (573) continues to lead as the Trojans will take a seven-stroke advantage over Arizona (580) and Stanford (580) into Tuesday's final round. UCLA (584) and California (588) round out the top five.
Sophomore Emma Betland continues to lead WSU as she shot a team-best 75 Monday, a three-stroke improve from her first round. Betland is tied for 32nd overall with a two-day total of 153. Freshman Mallory Kent and senior Allison Travis are tied for 46th entering the final round with identical scores of 162. Kent shot an 82 Monday while Travis was one stroke better at 81.
Junior Kristen Allard remained in 48th place after a 79 Monday, which was a five-stroke improvement from Sunday. Allard had a two-round score of 163 with sophomore teammate Ali Thompson two shots back at 165. Thompson, who sits in 49th place, shot an 80 Monday afternoon.
Final-round play at the 2011 Pac-10 Championships begins Tuesday morning.
