PULLMAN, Wash. - Alaska native Claude "CD" Doucet has joined the Washington State men's basketball team as a walk-on, coach Paul Graham announced Tuesday.

Doucet (pronounced do-SET) is a 6-6, 227-lbs., forward who transferred to WSU from Lamar to be closer to his Anchorage, Alaska home. He will practice with the Cougars this semester, but will not be eligible to play until next year. Doucet signed with Lamar out of South Plains Junior College in Levelland, Texas, where he averaged seven points and four rebounds per game as a sophomore for coach Lyndon Hardin.

WSU assistant coach Randall Dickey said Doucet will be a welcome practice body. "He's a big, strong kid who will immediately upgrade our ability to accomplish some things in practice, because he gives us some size and some strength on the front line," Dickey said. "I know coach Hardin at South Plains very well and he spoke highly of CD."

Doucet played his high school ball Anchorage's East High School and was a teammate of former Duke All-American Trajan Langdon.
