WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State men's basketball student-athletes Robbie Cowgill, Daven Harmeling and Aron Baynes were named to the 2007 Pacific-10 Men's Basketball All-Academic First Team, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced Thursday.

It marks the first time in school history the Cougars have earned three spots on the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team. California's Alex Pribble and Stanford's Peter Prowitt round out the first team.

A native of Austin, Texas, Cowgill carries a 3.35 grade point average and is a management options major. He is a first team member for the second straight year becoming the third WSU men's basketball student-athlete to accomplish the feat (Brian Quinnett, 1987, 1989 and Carlos Daniel, 1996-98).

On the court, Cowgill started all 34 games this season and averaged 8.1 points and 5.4 rebounds while tallying 29 blocked shots.

Harmeling, a redshirt-sophomore from Grand Junction, Colo., is a health and fitness major with a 3.49 grade point average. He started 21 games for the Cougars, averaged 8.9 points per game and led the team with 43.0 shooting from 3-point range, ninth best on the WSU single-season list.

Baynes, a sophomore from Cairns, Australia, is undeclared with a 3.26 grade point average. He appeared in 26 games, including seven starts and averaged 5.2 points per game. He set a Cougar single-game record with a 10-for-10 day from the field in WSU's 88-86 double overtime victory over USC, March 3.

This is the first time since 1999 the Cougars have had three men's basketball student-athletes receive Pac-10 academic honors in the same season. Will Hutchens (first team), Leif Nelson (honorable mention) and Blake Pengelly (honorable mention) received recognition that season.
