Cougars Conclude Homestand With Simon Fraser And Central Washington

THIS WEEK: The Washington State University women's swim team concludes its regular season, hosting Simon Fraser University and Central Washington University in a tri-meet, Friday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.

"We want to get in some races with their top people," WSU Head Coach, Erica Quam said. "We would like to take advantage of our last racing opportunity going into the Pac-10 Championships."

LAST WEEK: Washington State hosted Oregon State, Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31...the Cougars fell to the Beavers, 155-103 Friday and 135-68 Saturday in dual meet action...freshman Erin McCleave led the way for WSU with wins in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyles.

COACH QUAM: WSU Head Coach Erica Quam is in her second season as the women's swimming coach.

COUGAR'S OPPONENTS: The Cougars are 7-0 all-time against the Clan of Simon Fraser, and 10-2 versus the Wildcats of Central.

WSU SENIORS: after being honored last weekend, the three Washington State senior swimmers will compete in their final home meet of their Cougar careers...Nicole Chinn, Theresa Dunn, and Sasha Taylor have each been with WSU since 2000.

THIS SEASON: The Cougars added 11 newcomers to the 10 returning letter winners...WSU has a record of 1-8 in dual meets this season...the Cougars are 0-5 in Pac-10 competition.

ACADEMICS: WSU finished third in the nation academically spring semester 2003 (3.5).

UP NEXT: The Cougs take two weeks off before competing in the Pac-10 Championships, Wednesday, Feb. 25 through Saturday, Feb. 28 at Long Beach, Calif.
