PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University and the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena have been selected to host one of four regional sites for the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, the NCAA announced Wednesday, July 9. This marks the fourth time in an eight-year span the Cougars will have hosted a women’s regional, having successfully staged events in 2008, 2011 and 2013.
The Spokane Regional will be played either March 27 and March 29, or March 28 and March 30, 2015. The NCAA will determine those dates later this year.
“We have had great success in hosting past events in Spokane and when the NCAA asked if we could host the 2015 NCAA Women’s Regional, we were happy to do so,” said senior associate director of athletics John Johnson. “Partnering with the tremendous staff at the Spokane Arena and general manager Matt Gibson, along with the Spokane Public Facilities District, we look forward to hosting another tremendous event in 2015.”
In addition to Spokane the remaining three regional sites are Albany, N.Y. (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference); Oklahoma City, Okla. (University of Oklahoma) and Greensboro, N.C. (Atlantic Coast Conference).
“We couldn't be more excited to partner with Washington State at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena to host the NCAA Regional once again,” said Spokane Arena general manager Matt Gibson. “It is because of the incredible staff at WSU that we are able to provide these world-class live experiences to the region. We can't wait to bring on the Madness!"
Ticket prices and sale dates for the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Regional will be announced at a later date.
