First off, I want to say I love my job here with Washington State Athletics and I want to thank June and Mike for giving me this opportunity to coach with them.
June is an awesome person to work for. The reason why I say this is because she lets me be myself. It's the same with the players that play for her. She lets them have their own identities as basketball players, but within her system.
My job consists of a few tasks that are going to help us become a successful basketball team. Recruiting, film, scouting, camps, offense, point guard development, and rebounding. It may seem like a lot of tasks to do but it's actually just the right amount to keep me busy all the time. I also have the help of an experienced staff that helps me get things done on time. We have an excellent secretary in Linda Rubenthaler that keeps us in order and on our toes!
The task I love the most is Point Guard development. I like this task because that's the position I played in college and high school. Dribbling, passing and running a team have always been strong points of mine. I've been successful at teaching players in the Seattle area how to be good point guards at the college level. We have some young, talented point guards this year and I look forward to developing their games.
I couldn't ask for a better job at this point in my life (unless I was playing in the NBA). The people I work with are great and Washington State is an amazing University. I look forward to becoming the best program in the Pac-10!
Welcome to the new era of Championship Cougar Basketball.
