HIGH SCORING FRESHMEN
Freshmen guards Jazmine Perkins (302 points) and April Cook (278 points) rank eighth and 16th, respectively, in freshmen scoring nationally. WSU is one of only two schools with two freshmen ranking in the top 20, with the other being Tennessee's combo of Shekinna Stricklen (299 points; ninth) and Glory Johnson (275 points; 17th).
APPLETON JOINS 1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior guard Katie Appleton scored eight points against Arizona State (Jan. 29), bringing her career total to 1,000. She is only the 12th women's basketball player in school history to reach the milestone.
APPLETON CLAIMS 3-POINT RECORD
With four 3-point field goals against UCLA (Jan. 22), Appleton passed Joanna Smith (143; 1997-2001) to become WSU's career leader in the statistical category. Appleton now has 153 career 3-pointers.
NATION'S BIGGEST TURNAROUNDS
With four more victories already in 2008-09 than in all of last season, the Cougars enter this week ranked tied for 14th nationally amongst teams making the greatest turnarounds this season.
FROSH ONE-TWO PUNCH
Not only does Cougar freshman Jazmine Perkins rank seventh in scoring in the Pacific-10 Conference at 13.7 ppg, she is the highest-scoring freshmen in the league. April Cook ranks second amongst Pac-10 freshman - and ninth overall - at 13.2 ppg.
WSU is looking for its first victory over Oregon since Feb. 18, 2006 (68-53), a streak of six consecutive losses. WSU will also be looking to end an eight-game slide on the road, as the team's last victory over Oregon at McArthur Court came Feb. 15, 2001 (77-76). The Cougars trail in the all-time series 10-54.
