PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University women's basketball team saw 13 players register points in its 93-30 exhibition victory over Western Oregon University at Beasley Coliseum Saturday.

The Cougars had three players scored in double figures, led by freshman guard Taylor Edmondson's 12 as fellow freshmen Mariah Cooks and Lia Galdeira each added 11 points. Galdeira also added five assists and five steals. Junior forward Hana Potter chipped in with nine points and sophomore forward Shalie Dheensaw posted eight points and nine rebounds for WSU who out-rebounded the Wolves 76-32 and registered 62 points from inside the paint. Freshman Dawnyelle Awa also dished out seven assists.

Washington State scored the game's first five points behind a steal and layup from Galdeira who was fouled on the play and hit the free throw. Senior Carly Noyes followed with a layups the next two times down the floor to get the offense off and running. The Cougs never trailed and quickly pulled away with a run of 11-2 and later closed the half with a 20-0 streak over the final 6:57.

Western Oregon opened the second half with a layup but WSU scored 18 straight points highlighted by a pair of threes from sophomore guard Tia Presley and junior forward Sage Romberg that put the game out of reach.

The Cougars finished the game shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and held the Wolves to 17.7 shooting including 1-for-20 from behind the arc.

WSU opens the regular season next weekend against the University of Minnesota Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Best Buy Classic in Minneapolis. Following its game against the Golden Gophers, the Cougars will face the winner/loser of Villanova/South Dakota State Sunday, Nov. 11.
