BRATISLAVA, Slovakia – The Washington State University women’s basketball team continued its 10-day foreign trip through Europe, traveling to Levice, Slovakia to face the Levice basketball club.
The team defeated Levice, 69-34, and were led by sophomore Lia Galdeira with 16 points.
The Cougars will travel to Prague tomorrow. While in Prague, WSU will face three more European opponents and also have the opportunity to sightsee at the Prague Castle and take a boat tour on the Vltava River.
Throughout the Cougars' travels in Europe, seniors Brandi Thomas, Sage Romberg, and Hana Potter will be keeping a players’ blog of their thoughts and activities. Below is an entry from Brandi Thomas, recapping the day’s events.
“It sure felt great to get our first W of the season today! All of our Coug fans were just as ready as we were at the beginning of the game, shaking their little noise makers they got this morning! It is so great to have our Coug family with us here in Europe :) There were a few different rules that most us had to adapt to, but Iva had no problem fitting right in! She's definitely helped us struggling Americans a ton over here!!
Tomorrow morning we head to Prague. We have all heard a lot of good things about the place so we're all very excited to spend our last few days in Europe there!
