VIENNA – The Washington State University women’s basketball team continues its 10-day foreign trip to Austria, Slovakia and Czech Republic with a free day to explore the city of Vienna Aug. 9.

Throughout the Cougars' travels in Europe, seniors Brandi Thomas, Sage Romberg, and Hana Potter will be keeping a players’ blog of their thoughts and activities. Below is an entry from Hana Potter, recapping the day’s events.

“Just finishing up our second full day here in Vienna, Austria. I feel like the trip is already flying by! Today was a bit more relaxing than yesterday, at least for myself. I know a lot of the other girls and coaches were out and about exploring at the crack of dawn! I didn't quite make it up that early...

Breakfast was once again absolutely delicious. I really enjoy trying a little bit of everything, especially the food that we don't usually have in the states! The pastries are my favorite part but also my biggest weakness! After breakfast I had a lot of down time, waiting for my parents to get up and ready for the day! I am so thankful they are here to spend this time with me!

Once we were all ready to start our adventures, we walked down towards the Albertina Museum of Art to see the Picasso and Monet exhibit. I have never seen original masterpieces like this so it was really interesting! I must say, within these past two days, I have learned a ton about the history of this area. The museum itself was beautiful, with several other exhibits being held.

Afterwards, we sat down at the Mozart Cafe across the way and had a very nice meal. The remaining of the day consisted mostly of shopping and more walking through the city. I wanted to take advantage of buying some of the different clothing styles but everything was a tad bit too expensive. One thing that I can admit that has NOT been lacking during this trip is the amount of food I have eaten. Every single restaurant we have gone to has a different menu and being in a different/new country, I'm determined to try new things! Every meal I have left feeling extremely full. But I'm not complaining!!! Every meal I have had since I got off that plane has been delicious! I'm wrapping my day up with a full tummy, watching this thunderstorm outside our hotel window! The lightning lights up the whole sky! It's pretty awesome! We check out tomorrow and bus to Bratislava for the next couple days! Definitely didn't have enough time to see everything in Vienna but I feel like we saw all of the important stuff! I love it here!”
