Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Insurance Coordinator (Program Assistant). This Insurance Coordinator position performs specialized work in support of student athletic health care and insurance claims. The Insurance Coordinator is the primary contact for all providers of medical service for WSU Student Athletes health care claims. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: coordinating the health care and insurance claims processing, submission and record keeping for student athletes; processing claims to AG Administrators and accounts payable; coordinating all medical referrals and pre-authorizations for student athletes; assist with any insurance questions from student-athletes and athletic trainers; and collecting current medical, dental and vision insurance information for student athletes. Must be able to interpret and apply complicated rules and regulations. Must work easily and effectively with coaches, staff and administrators.
Minimum qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience. Demonstrated ability to apply medical terminology. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-pace professional environment. Customer service experience working with internal and external clients.
Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated ability to knowledgeably and confidently explain program policies and procedures to internal and external clients. Demonstrated experience working in a medical clinic. Training or experience with CPT and ICD-9 coding. Training or experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding. Training or experience with Physical Therapy and/or Hospice procedure codes. Experience processing medical insurance claims and billing. Knowledge and use of an electronic health record.
