Assistant Director of Athletics, Football Head Athletic Trainer

Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletics, Football Head Athletic Trainer (Senior Athletic Trainer). Under the guidance of team physicians and administrative supervision by the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, this position coordinates and manages all athletic training services provided to WSU football student-athletes. Duties include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and case management, as well as supervision of the athletic training staff assigned to the football program and facility management of the Cougar Football Complex Athletic Training Room. All duties must be performed within State, University, Department, Conference, NCAA, and NATA expectations, guidelines, best practices, and when appropriate legislation and laws. This position is also responsible for assisting with clinical education and supervision and mentoring Athletic Training students in the accredited Athletic Training Curriculum Program.

Minimum Qualifications: Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five (5) years of demonstrated experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities, including one (1) year of supervisory or program oversight experience. NATA Certification and Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certification required. Must be able to obtain a Washington State Athletic Trainer License in two months from hire date. Must have the ability to work nights and weekends. Frequent travel with assigned team.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in related field. Seven (7) years of work experience within intercollegiate athletic training services. Five (5) years of work experience within Division I level of athletic training services. Work experience that demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and successfully with head and assistant football coaches, strength coaches, team physicians and administrators. Work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully supervise assistant athletics trainers within the intercollegiate football setting. Work experience that demonstrates the necessary skills to successfully supervise Athletic Training Students (ATS). Work experience that demonstrates ability to provide clinical ATS instruction. Work experience that demonstrates ability to work successfully with a diverse student population.

Athletic Trainer

Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Athletic Trainer (Assistant Athletic Trainer). This recruitment will be used to fill multiple position vacancies. This position has responsibility to undertake and perform properly, efficiently, to the best of their ability and consistent with the standards of the University, all duties and responsibilities for the health care of student-athletes under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Training Services and the guidance of the Team Physicians; to include coordination of care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, also responsible for assisting with clinical education, supervision and mentoring of the Athletic Training students in the accredited Athletic Training education curriculum program.

Regional Director, Cougar Athletic Fund (Seattle)

Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Regional Director, Cougar Athletic Fund (Development Assistant Director). The Regional Director, Western Washington is a key member of the WSU Cougar Athletic Fund (CAF) staff, sharing significant responsibilities for the advancement of the CAF’s annual, major and planned giving development efforts, as well as spearheading athletics marketing and ticket sales efforts in the Puget Sound area. This position will be based in the WSU Seattle offices, located in downtown Seattle. The position will serve as the departmental liaison to assigned booster groups, establish strong corporate relationships, provide stewardship to current athletic donors, organize the volunteer annual fund drive in the assigned region and assist with major gift fundraising efforts.

Minimum Qualifications: Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which includes eighteen (18) months of full-time fundraising experience which includes demonstrated success of face-to-face solicitation of gifts of $1000 or more, mass market fundraising, event planning and management, donor stewardship, fund tracking and acknowledgements to donors OR comparable experience and one (1) year of managerial experience. Comparable experience totaling four (4) years of progressively responsible full time experience in sales, marketing, public relations or advancement experience which has involved direct face-to-face contact with clients, customers, prospective customers and members of the public may be substituted for the experience requirements. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Fund-raising/ marketing experience in the University/Higher Education environment. Fund-raising/ marketing or related work experience within intercollegiate athletics. Fund-raising and familiarity with the Puget Sound market. Volunteer board development and volunteer board relations experience. Advanced Degree in related field. Work experience that demonstrates excellent written communication skills. Work experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Work experience that demonstrates strong computer capabilities and familiarity with spreadsheets and database systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, alumni/donor applications, E-mail). Work experience that demonstrates the ability to work autonomously, and to establish priorities and follow-up in a timely manner. Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Cook

Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Cook (Cook 1) for the Gray W Legends Lounge. Under supervision of the Gray W Legends Lounge Associate Manager/Executive Chef, this position is responsible for the preparation of C.A.T. menu items and Gray W special event menus. Responsible for developing new items annually and seasonally in conjunction with Associate Manager/Executive Chef. Ensure proper par stock ordering levels so that sufficient quantities of product are on hand while minimizing waste from over purchasing. Develop appropriate production pars, peak meal batch cooking and off-peak cooking levels. Responsible for proper handling and storage of all food products. Must demonstrate judgment, integrity and commitment to quality in all items prepared. Responsible for the safe and appropriate use and care of equipment, clean up, and securing of work area at shift’s end. Maintain records as required and direct production area. Provide quality customer service to student-athletes, staff, administrators, and guests.

Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in food preparation or cooking; OR equivalent education/experience. Possession of, or ability to obtain Food Handler’s Permit within 14 days of employment. Valid Driver’s License. Must be able to work a variable, non-scheduled work week.

Preferred Qualifications: Two to four years experience working in increasingly responsible multi-faceted food service positions. Experience preparing and/or cooking performance-based nutritious meals. Experience in restaurant cooking, that may include a variety of international/ethnic cuisines. Experience training employees. General knowledge of commercial grade kitchen equipment use, safety, and maintenance.

Coordinator for Career Development and Community Service

Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Coordinator for Career Development and Community Service (Academic Coordinator/Advisor 2). This position is responsible for team advising and counseling of student-athletes regarding academic performance, including course/major selection, developing graduation plan, time management, goal setting, career planning, learning and study strategies, test taking, note taking, and other skills necessary for academic success. In addition this position is responsible for the management and coordination of career development, student service programs that focus on career development, personal development, and community/campus service.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in counseling, student services, education, or related field and three (3) years of experience working with college age students in an advising, coaching, counseling, and/or student development role. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Must have, or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in counseling, education, athletic administration, or related area. Work experience that demonstrates genuine concern and interest for the welfare of student-athletes. Demonstrated successful experience with program development and implementation and the ability to initiate and complete projects independently with specific deadlines. Ability to work with students, coaches and administrators in a broad range of situations. Executive Chef, Sports Nutrition Program (Food Service Associate Manager)

Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Executive Chef, Sports Nutrition Program (Food Service Associate Manager) for the Gray W Legends Lounge. As the Executive Chef for the Cougar Sports Nutrition program, the position will be responsible for creating nutritious sports performance menus/recipes for all athletes at WSU. The Executive Chef will work closely with the General Manager and the Coordinator of Sports Nutrition for Athletics in developing and testing nutritious recipes and building creative menus for the Sports Nutrition Program. The Executive Chef will receive direction from the Coordinator of Sports Nutrition pertaining to Athletic Menu Cycle, recipe approval, and implementation of nutrition education systems.

In addition as a working Executive Chef, the position will provide direction and oversight/management to Union Dining Service employees that work within the Gray W Legends Lounge kitchen. Along with daily responsibilities, this position will support or produce/service for special events and pre-competition meals as needed. This position may also assist the Coordinator of Sports Nutrition with nutrition hub inventory/prep/service, as well as educational cooking demos/teaching kitchen programs for WSU athletes. This position will receive direction from the Gray W Legends Lounge General Manager on the daily culinary operational needs, as well as long term expectation and goals for the operation. The Executive Chef will collaborate with responsibilities in implementing FSA Star Solutions processes in regards to menu planning, forecasting, pre and post costing of meals and all other activities which support food quality and operational excellence of the Gray W Legends Lounge and WSU.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant administration, institutional management, business administration or closely related field and two (2) years of supervisory/management experience which included planning and budgeting. Additional qualifying food service work experience and/or vocational training in quantity food preparation may be substituted, year-for-year, for college education. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Must have a Food Handler’s Permit or ability to obtain a permit within 14 days of employment. Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in culinary, nutrition, dietetics, sports nutrition or a related field of study. Additional years of culinary experience. Catering and event planning experience. Strong leadership/supervisory skills and organizational abilities. Demonstrated experience working successfully within a team environment. One (1) year of experience in sports nutrition and menu/recipe development for athletes. Previous experience including responsibility for development of an athletic training table. Experience with FSA Star Solutions food production software. Master’s degree in hotel and restaurant administration, culinary, nutrition, dietetics, sports nutrition.
