Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Washington State Cougars
WSU Head Coach Tony Bennett
Overall thoughts on the game...
"We were a little sluggish offensively. They were a little more patient and physical than Mississippi Valley State. I told our guys at halftime 'your defense has to hold them.' I think that we had a little bit of trouble on the glass, but the second half they came out and played well."

On FDU's offensive rebounds...
"They had too many. Especially the way they got them, that can't happen. It's something definitely, there's a number of things we'll look at."

On Caleb Forrest's performance...
"Caleb did a good job. He gave us a spark. He had a tough matchup with number 55 (Alvin Mofunanya). He (Mofunanya) is a talented kid, he can do some different things. We had a couple of tough matchups with Caleb on here. He plays so hard. He threw his body out there to save the ball in the second half. He'll make all the hustle plays, you can count on that. He could have played more minutes certainly, but I wanted to get a look at those other guys. He'll be there for us and I love his attitude and effort. He can knock down shots too."

WSU Senior Taylor Rochestie
On coming out in the second half...
"I think Coach really challenged us to come out the right way. In the first half we had some times where we kind of went up and down, up and down. It was important for us to establish the right mentality in the second half. We wanted to come out and make it tougher on them to score."

"We started out a little better, than we went through some lulls. It's still early in the season, we need to learn to play 40 minutes, it's something we can work on. Today I think we played 20 minutes of good basketball."

WSU Senior Caleb Forrest
On rebounding...
"At first I thought we were doing a real nice job getting all five guys, especially defensively, getting down there and rebounding. We were tipping it around a lot, they had a lot of athleticism. Toward the end of the second half they were getting more of those and we weren't ganging up on the rebound like Coach always talks about. I think we could have done a little bit better."

Fairleigh Dickinson Knights
FDU Head Coach Tom Green
Overall thoughts on the game...
"I knew that Washington State would play a great defense and they certainly did. We're coming off another game where we saw incredible defense. Washington State played every bit as good."

On comparisons between Pitt and WSU...
"Both are strong inside. I thought we did a better job of rebounding tonight, but we worked on that on practice a lot this week.

On his team's performance...
"We did a better job rebounding tonight against Washington State. Hopefully, we're trying to emphasize that the last couple days of practice."

On the cross country trip to start the season...
"Obviously we're 0-2 and been beat by twenty plus both times. I knew with the schedule it would be a difficult opening."
