WSU Women Move into a tie for 16th Place

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Washington State women's golf team moved up two places in the standings in the second round of the UNLV Spring Invitational. The team is now in a tie for 16th with New Mexico State as they improved by six strokes on their first-round total. The Cougars posted a 305 (+17) in round two for a tournament total of 616 (+40).

Sophomore Kristen Allard led the team for the second-consecutive day with a 73 (+1), notching a two-round total of 147 (+3). Allard is currently tied for 17th place and is only three strokes away from entering the top 10. If she continues her success in the third round it will be her third top-25 finish.

Freshman Emma Betland, who led the team last week in the Bruin Wave Invitational, continued her success in the spring season with a 74 (+2) in the second round. Betland, who has a tournament total of 153 (+9), is only five strokes from joining her teammate in the top 25.

Freshman Ellen Park is having her best tournament of the season posting a 79 (+7) today for a two-round total of 157 (+13). Redshirt junior Allison Travis carded a 79 (+7) for a tournament total of 159 (+14). Freshman Ali Thompson also shot a 79 (+7) for a tournament total of 160 (+15).

The team hopes to continue improving in the third round with tee times starting tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
