COUGS ACROSS THE CASCADES: The Washington State volleyball team, 7-12 overall, 0-8 Pac-10, travels across the Cascade Mountains to meet in-state rival and conference travel partners, No. 6 Washington (15-3, 6-2) this Friday in a 7 p.m. match at Bank of America Arena in Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle.

COUGAR COACHING STAFF: Head Coach Andrew Palileo (7-12 at WSU, 246-153 career/12 yrs) is in his first season at WSU after a highly successful tenure at South Dakota State...associate head coach Brian Lamppa and assistant coach TeAna Tramel complete the coaching staff...Kristina Martin is the coordinator of operations.

HYDER CLAIMS SCHOOL DIGS RECORD: Kelly Hyder (junior, Huntington Beach, Calif.) owns the WSU career digs record with 1,344 digs over her three-year career at WSU (82 matches, 274 sets, 4.91 digs per set average).

JOHNSON JOINS 1,000 KILLS CLUB: Senior Brittany Johnson (Phoenix, Ariz.) reached 1,000 kills during the match at Arizona State Sept. 27 and became the 10th Cougar in school history to reach this milestone...with 1,029 kills she is currently in 9th on the all-time list and needs 4 more kills for 8th place.

ABC CAMPAIGN & BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MATCH: The Stanford at WSU Oct. 3 match was the first of the Pac-10 Volleyball Breast Cancer Awareness Month...WSU team, staff, spirit groups and Butch, the mascot, wore Pink...additionally, Cougar volleyball and the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse, known as the Bosom Buddies, have joined together for the Attacking Breast Cancer (ABC) Pledge Drive for the seventh consecutive year...the Cougars will collect monetary pledges for all WSU points scored by kills during the eight matches during October...last year the team raised $1652.50, bringing the total collected since the first campaign in 2002 to $7,444.15...to donate to the 2008 ABC Campaign, contact WSU Volleyball Coordinator of Operations, Kristina Martin at Kristina_Martin@wsu.edu, or call 509-335-7169.

ABOUT THE NO. 6 WASHINGTON HUSKIES (15-3, 6-2): The Dawgs' two Pac-10 losses have come on their home court...undefeated California swept the Huskies Oct. 3 and second-place Stanford also defeated UW 3-0 Oct. 5...team leaders include 5-9 So. setter Jenna Hagglund (11.92 assists per set - 2nd Pac-10) who was AVCA National Player of the Week last week...6-1 So. MB/OH Kindra Carlson (3.31 kps - 8th Pac-10, 3.95 pps - 7th Pac-10)...6-2, So. I Coaches Top 25 Poll for Oct. 20, shows eight WSU opponents ranked...six of the top 14 teams are Pac-10 schools so the Cougs will play each twice...the ranked opponents are: No. 4 California, No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 Washington, No. 7 Oregon, No. 10 UCLA, No. 12 Wichita State, No. 14 USC, and No. 24 Oregon State...also receiving votes this week was Arizona (No. 26)...go to www.avca.org for the weekly coaches top 25 poll.

MEET THE COUGARS: #6 Annie Adams (OH, 6-3, SO-RS, Crosby, Minn.) - redshirt this season after transferring from South Dakota State.

#2 Jackie Albright (OH, 6-0, JR, Lake Forest, Calif.) - one of three co-captains...leads team with 2.58 kills per set and second in points per set with 2.91...reached career-high 24 digs against Gonzaga...double-figure kills in eight matches this season...career totals are 554 kills, 36 aces, 566 digs, 59 blocks, 638 points.

#16 Renee Bordelon (S, 5-10, JR, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) - transfer from North Idaho College...named to Cougar Challenge all-tournament team...has been setter in 54 of WSU's 66 sets...averages 9.41 aps, 9th best in Pac-10 this week...also tallied 18 kills, 96 digs, 7 aces and 20 blocks...season-high four blocks at USC.

#12 Cassie Robbins (MB, 6-3, JR, Yakima, Wash.) - seen action in 51 sets and landed 115 kills with .322 hitting percentage which is best on team...against No. 6 Oregon had 8 kills, 0 errors, 18 attacks for .444 hpct...also added 25 blocks this season.

#3 Emily Rooney (MB, 6-1, SR, Red Wing, Minn.) - transferred from South Dakota State...one of three co-captains...named MVP of Boise State Bronco Invite...named to Idaho Classic all-tournament team...second on team with 152 kills and second on team with .264 hpct...adds 0.77 blocks per set, second on team...leads team with 12 service aces...leads team with 3.00 points per set.

#10 Kimika Rozier (OH, 5-10, RS-FR, Murrieta, Calif.) - recovered from a minor surgical knee procedure in mid-August...saw first action of season in third set at USC 10/10...landed 1 kill and 1 dig against No. 6 Oregon.

#7 Catie Schuetzle (OH, 5-8, JR, Spokane, Wash.) - moved to volleyball team after three seasons as a triple jumper on the Cougar track and field team...came off the bench to land the set and match-winning kill in Utah Valley contest 9/19...left team last week of September.

#4 Amy Small (DS/S, 5-6, SR, Pullman, Wash.) - played in 24 sets with 35 digs...career high of 9 digs vs. EWU.

#21 Brittany Tillman (MB, 6-1, SO, Tacoma, Wash.) - starter at middle...tallied 116 kills...60 blocks with 0.95 bps leads the team...had season-high 12 kills, hit .391, and had 4 blocks against No. 24 Oregon State.

#11 Stephanie Weishaar (DS/L, 5-3, SR, Camas, Wash.) - played in 50 of the Cougars' 66 sets...86 digs this season...played in 109 matches in career, second only to Brittany Johnson on team (110)...772 career digs and 63 career service aces.

#14 Tangerine Wiggs (OH, 6-2, FR, Seattle, Wash.) - redshirt this season.

MARCIA SANEHOLTZ COURT AT BOHLER GYM COUGARS HOME: The Cougars' home court is called Marcia Saneholtz Court at Bohler Gym in honor of the 28-year administrative veteran of Cougar Athletics who retired Oct. 1, 2007...Sr. Associate Athletics Director/SWA, a long-time proponent of gender equity and a champion for all sports at WSU as well as in the Pac-10 and the nation...NACWAA president (1992-93), on the board of directors (1987-94), and named 1997 Administrator of the Year...also NAGWS Pathfinder Award in 2001 and WSU Woman of Distinction in 2003.

TUNE IN FOR COUGAR VOLLEYBALL ON RADIO: Cougar volleyball fans can listen to all the road contests during the 2008 season LIVE in the Palouse on KQQQ-AM radio (1150 on the AM dial)...matches played Oct. 10, 24 and 31 will be on Border 104 (KHTR, 104.3 FM)...veteran area broadcaster Steve Grubbs is the voice of Cougar volleyball for the fourth season.
