Volleyball Announces Spring 2009 Schedule and Banquet

PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State University volleyball team begins its spring season of competition this weekend with a tournament at Cal State Northridge and will host a tournament April 11 in Bohler Gym, WSU Head Coach Andrew Palileo said Wednesday.

The Cougars will travel to Cal State Northridge for four matches Saturday, March 28. WSU will play Cal State Northridge and Loyola Marymount in the morning and take on Long Beach State and Pac-10 foe Southern California in the afternoon. All matches will be played at Matador Gym.

The WSU Spring Tournament will be held Saturday, April 11, in Bohler Gym and the Physical Education Building, with both courts in action through the day. The teams participating in the tournament include Idaho (Western Athletic Conf.), Eastern Washington and Montana State (Big Sky Conf.), and Lewis-Clark State (NAIA). Admission is free of charge.

The WSU Spring Tournament schedule is:

9 a.m.WSU vs. Montana State / Idaho vs. Lewis-Clark State
10 a.m.WSU vs. Idaho / MSU vs. Eastern Washington
11 a.m.WSU vs. LCSC / EWU vs. Idaho
Noon - Lunch break
1 p.m.MSU vs. Idaho / LCSC vs. EWU
2 p.m.WSU vs. EWU / MSU vs. LCSC

The WSU 2008 Volleyball Banquet will be held April 11 at 6 p.m. at the CUB in Butch's Den. The cost is $15 per person and anyone wishing to attend or interested in sponsoring a volleyball student-athlete should email Assistant Coach TeAna Tramel at ttramel@wsu.edu, no later than April 3, 2009.

The Cougar volleyball team will conclude the 2009 spring season with a scrimmage against Idaho, Wednesday, April 15, at 3 p.m. in Bohler Gym.
