SAMMAMISH, Wash. - The Washington State women's golf team improved to 10th place in the second round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational. The Cougars passed both Brigham Young and Long Beach State, moving out of 12th place at the par-72, 6,136 yard Sahalee Country Club.

Sophomore Kristen Allard led the way for the team with a 73 (+1) for a two-round total of 161 (+17). Allard improved by 15 strokes from day one and moved up 29 places on the leaderboard to land in a tie of 36th.

Freshman Emma Betland is currently leading the team in 30th place with a tournament total of 160 (+16) posting a 79 (+7) in the second round. Fellow freshman Ali Thompson carded an 81 (+9) for the second consecutive day for a two-round total of 162 (+17) and is currently in a tie for 39th only one stroke between Betland.

Junior Allison Travis posted an 82 (+10) improving on her day one round for a tournament total of 165 (+21). Freshman Ellen Park also improved in day two with an 84 (+12) for a total of 174 (+30).

The team posted a total of 315 in day two improving by 17 strokes from day one which is the largest improvement margin thus far in the tournament. With a two-round total of 648 (+72) the Cougars are currently sitting in 10th place only 12 strokes away from seventh and are looking to keep improving in the final round.

The third round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational will resume Tuesday with tee times beginning at 10 a.m.
