Sept. 17 WSU Volleyball Release Get Acrobat Reader

WSU VOLLEYBALL (10-2) OPENS PAC-12 PLAY WITH RIVALRY MATCH
The Washington State University volleyball team (10-2) takes a nine-match win streak on the road...third consecutive week on the road for Cougars...Pac-12 rivalry week...Cougars travel to Seattle to meet No. 5 Washington (9-0) Tues., Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at Alaska Airlines Arena...Fri., Sept. 21, WSU plays Arizona State (11-2) at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe at 6 p.m...both matches this week will be televised live on the Pac-12 TV Networks...all WSU volleyball road matches are broadcast live on KQQQ 1150 AM and the internet.

GLAB TABBED PAC-12 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior middle hitter Marcelina Glab (Watertown, SD) was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 9-15...had a career-high 13 kills, hit .524, and had a career-high 12 blocks in WSU's 3-1 win over CSU Bakersfield...averaged 2.00 bps and team averaged 3.86 bps in winning the Air Force Academy Invitational, the third tournament win in as many weeks for the Cougars...Glab's 1.59 bps is first in the Pac-12 and is 6th nationally...WSU is the NATIONAL LEADER with 3.28 bps.

LAST WEEK
WSU won its third straight tournament title...Cougars won the Air Force Academy Invitational with victories over Norfolk State (25-14, 25-15, 25-13), CSU Bakersfield Nevada (25-14, 25-27, 25-23, 25-18) and Air Force (23-25, 25-9, 25-14, 25-21)...no all-tournament team but great peformances from Jaicee Harris (49 kills, .324 hpct., 1 ace, 19 digs, 6 blocks), Rachel Todorovich (32 kills, .407 hpct., 5 blocks), Marcelina Glab (26 kills, .377, 22 blocks), Ver'Leea Hardaway (16 kills. .263, 18 blocks), and Camryn Irwin (10.36 asst per set, 11 digs, 13 blocks)

COUGAR COACHING STAFF: BUILDING A WINNING PROGRAM
Head Coach Jen Stinson Greeny (22-22 at WSU, 2nd year; 134-46 in career, 6th year)...during her first season Greeny's team doubled the total number of wins from the previous season, including four more wins in the elite Pac-12 Conference action...the Cougar team also won 23 of 25 sets in the 2012 spring...Meagan Ganzer became the first Cougar to be named to All-Pac-12 and All-Pacific Region teams since 2002 when Greeny was as assistant coach, and All-American, the fourth in WSU history and the first since 1996....assistant coaches Pat Stangle (former head coach at Wyoming, former asst. coach at Washington) and Burdette Greeny (former asst. coach at LCSC)...Katie Hinrichs, coordinator of operations (former player at LCSC)...volunteer coach Shannon Wyckoff Hunt was the first WSU player to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
