PULLMAN, Wash. -- Led by sophomore David Adams' game-high 19 points, Washington State defeated Slovakia Select 90-57 in men's exhibition basketball Tuesday night.

Besides Adams, freshman Marcus Moore (15 points), senior Eddie Miller (14 points) and sophomore Milton Riley (14 points) each tallied double figure scoring. Moore also dished out a team-high seven assists.

"This team is capable of having a different player step up every night," Adams said. "Tonight was a game where we wanted to work on our offensive and defensive execution and work out the kinks."

Junior J Locklier just missed joining the Cougar quartet in double figures with nine points while junior Framecio Little added seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

"We got better tonight," Miller, who averaged 16.5 points in two exhibition games, said. "We are excited. We have six or seven guys on this team who haven't played in a year or so. I think you are going to see improvement every game."

The Cougars jumped out to a 52-36 halftime lead behind Adams' 14 first half points. The Tacoma native connected on 5-of-6 field goal attempts in the first half, including 4-of-4 from three-point range.

As a team, WSU shot 56 percent in the first half and 49 percent for the game.

"For this basketball team to be competitive, we are going to have to have every player come to play every night," WSU head coach Paul Graham said. "We saw a lot of that tonight."

The Cougars took care of the basketball, committing just 13 turnovers in the game.

"You can live with 13 turnovers," Graham said. "We did a good job in transition and creating some easy baskets tonight."

Washington State opens its regular season Monday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Portland State at Friel Court.
