Montana Invitational, University Golf Course, Missoula, Mont.
10 a.m. (MT) Women's 6,000m Race
10:45 a.m. (MT) Men's 8,000m Race
THIS WEEK: The Washington State cross country teams travel to Missoula, Mont., to compete in the Montana Invitational hosted by the University of Montana.

THE MONTANA INVITATIONAL: WSU will face Eastern Washington, Montana, Montana State, Utah and Weber State in the small format meet...event takes place on the University Golf Course and features a trail comprised of grassy rolling hills and a short section of dirt path...women's 6k race is scheduled for 10 a.m. (MT) with the men's 8k race to follow at 10:45 a.m. (MT).

WSU WOMEN: The Washington State women will send a full team to the event led by Sundodger champion Haley Paul...Meghan Leonard, Kelly Ramirez, Collier Lawrence and Isley Gonzalez comprise the rest of the Cougar top five...this smaller race gives the team chance to match up against quality Big Sky competitors.

OUTLOOK: "This will be a good smaller meet to build confidence for our team," said Haley Paul. "We know Weber State is a team to shoot for, and we'd like to be right there with them." Coach Jason Drake says the meet will provide good competition and a challenge for both the men's and women's teams. Drake feels Cougar team wins on both sides are possible.

WSU MEN: The Cougar men will be represented by a contingent of ten runners...redshirt freshmen Woody Favinger and Drew Polley are coming off strong finishes at the Sundodger Invite...also running are Sam Ahlbeck, Derry Betts, Chris Concha, Ryan Freimuth, C.J. Godfrey, Justin Ireland, Dan Lucero and Chris Williams...Andrew Jones, who finished ninth at the 2004 Montana Invitational, will compete unattached.

NEXT COMPETITION: The Cougar harriers have a week off before they travel to Pre-Nationals at Terre Haute, Ind., Oct. 15...WSU will also send a second squad to Cheney, Wash., that same day to compete in the EWU Invitational.
