WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Washington State University sophomore, Junior Longrus, has been named to the 2014 Pac-12 Men’s Basketball All-Academic Second Team, conference commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday.

With Longrus’s selection, a Cougar has earned all-academic honors eight of the last nine seasons and 21 times over the last eight years. This season, Stanford and Utah were the lone teams represented on the first team with three selections for the Cardinal and two for the Utes. A total of six Stanford student-athletes were named to one of the three teams, while Utah had five and Oregon State and USC each had two. Arizona and Oregon each had an honorable mention honoree.

A native of Oakland, Calif., Longrus is undeclared with a 3.22 grade point average, planning on majoring in business. He played all 31 games for the Cougars, starting seven games. Longrus averaged 3.3 points and 3.5 rebounds a game and was second on the team with 23 total blocked shots. The sophomore shot a team-best .462 (43-for-92) from the field and averaged 20.0 minutes played a game.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
