LOS ANGELES – Ty Moore’s two-run single in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted No. 14 UCLA past Washington State 8-7, Sunday in Pac-12 Conference baseball.

After the Cougars (9-11, 3-3 Pac-12) took a 7-6 lead in the top of the 10th on a pinch hit, RBI-single by Jason Monda, the Bruins (14-8, 5-1) rallied against Ian Hamilton (2-2) and Sean Hartnett.

Hamilton yielded a base hit and hit a batter to open the frame. After a sacrifice bunt, Hartnett came on in relief to issue an intentional walk that loaded the bases. Moore then laced a 1-1 pitch down the right field line for the game-ending hit.

Washington State chased UCLA starter Cody Poteet after 2 1/3 innings after jumping on him for five runs. Ben Roberts delivered a two-run double with two outs in the first inning for the game’s first runs.

In the third, the Cougars loaded the bases with one out on singles by Yale Rosen, Nick Tanielu and Roberts. P.J. Jones extended the lead to 3-0 with a single and Ian Sagdal walked to force in a run. Another run came home a ground out by pinch hitter Wes Leow to make the score 5-0.

Kevin Williams pulled the Bruins within 5-3 on a three-run home run off Cougar starter Tanner Chleborad in the sixth. Washington State answered with a run in the seventh as Tanielu was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a single by Jones.

UCLA rallied for three runs in the eighth against the Washington State bullpen. Matt Bower, the third of five Cougar pitchers, entered with one out in the inning and retired the first man he faced for the second out. Bower gave up a walk and a single before being replaced by Hamilton. A walk, a single and a doubled followed to knot the game 6-6.

David Berg (3-0) logged 3 1/3 innings while giving up one run to earn the victory as the Bruins remained tied atop the Pac-12 standings.

Washington State concludes its nine-game road trip, Monday at Cal State Northridge. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
