PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State women's tennis coach Lisa Hart has been named the Pacific Northwest recipient of the 2013 USTA/ITA Sectional Campus & Community Outreach Award recipients, it was recently announced.
The USTA/ITA National Campus & Community Outreach Award is presented to one men's and one women's college coach who provides a leadership role in increasing tennis participation throughout his or her community, both on and off campus. Among the USTA/ITA partner programs available to assist coaches in giving back are Campus Kids' Days, Kids 10 and Under, Campus Showdowns and Tennis On Campus.
“Giving back to the community and growing the game of tennis locally is very important to our program,” said Hart. “We appreciate all the support the community shows us throughout the year and I am very proud of how our team continually steps up to make a difference in the Pullman area.”
This recognition adds to Hart’s impressive community service record, having received regional Community Service Awards in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2012 by the USTA and the ITA. The award honors ITA coaches for their significant contributions in developing community based tennis programs through community centers and schools. Hart was also the 2008 USTA/ITA Community Outreach Award national recipient.
