Washington State Men's Golf

RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. --- Only nine days after losing to Washington State at the Inland Collegiate Challenge, Idaho exacted its revenge by topping the Cougars by one stroke to win the Sacramento State Invitational.

The Cougars tied for second with tournament-host Sacramento State at 900 strokes. Idaho avoided a three-way tie for first place by only one shot, as the Vandals fired an 899 over the 54-hole event.

Washington State's Jon Reehoorn may be starting to feel like the Buffalo Bills. For the second consecutive event, Reehoorn was the runner-up for individual honors. Two weeks ago at the Inland Collegiate Challenge, the junior from Burlington, Wash., lost in a sudden-death playoff to Idaho's Ryan Benzel.

This week at the par 72 Rancho Murieta Country Club was not as dramatic, as Reehoorn fired a three-over par 219, and finished seven strokes behind Cal State-Stanislaus' Mark Lawless.

Sophomore Dustin White and freshman Isaac Woods were also solid for the Cougars, finishing in a tie for 10th place. Both players carded a nine-over par 225. White was consistent throughout the tournament with rounds of 75, 76, and 74, while Woods' second round 72 helped him stay near the top of the leader board, until a 78 in the third round.

Washington State's next event is on Mar. 24-25 at the Dr. Pepper Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
