Wawawai Landing

One of the most successful athletic programs at Washington State, the Cougar rowing team calls Wawawai Landing its home. The spectacular views provided by the Snake River Canyon make Wawawai Landing one of the most scenic rowing courses in the nation. Cougar rowers have called the calm stretch of water between the Little Goose and Lower Granite Dams home since 1970.

Wawawai is located upstream of the Lower Granite Dam about 20 miles southwest of Pullman. The towering cliffs offer a breathtaking backdrop for the annual regattas held on the Snake River. A large shellhouse stores shells and other equipment.

From 2002 to 2004, rowing earned a berth to the NCAA Championships, including team appearances in 2003 & 2004 (varsity eight earned an at-large bid in 2002). In 2004, buoyed by a third place finish by the second varsity eight crew, the Cougars finished ninth at the NCAA Championships.
