NORMAN, Okla. – Washington State men’s golf student-athlete Michael Anderson has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for Division I.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a junior or a senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent or more of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and a maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

A native of Phoenix, Anderson earned a team-best five finishes in the top 10 last season as a junior with the Cougars. He recorded a 73.77 stroke average, tops among 2014-15 returnees. He is a marketing major with a 3.53 GPA and was named to 2014 Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team.

He competed in the Pacific Coast Amateur earlier this month and will take part in the U.S. Amateur Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Ga., Aug. 11-17. Qualifying rounds of stroke play will take place Aug. 11-12 (36 holes total) on the Highland Course, which will play at par-71, 7,490 yards.

Match play will be held Aug. 13-17 on the par-72, 7,381 yard Riverside Course. Golf Channel will televise the event, Aug. 13-15 with NBC carrying the semifinal matches, Aug. 16 and the final match, Aug. 17.
