COUGARS AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS WEST PRELIMINARY ROUNDS
Washington State University’s track and field program will have a strong presence at the 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary Rounds this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 29-31, at John McDonnell Field the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville...the East Region Prelims are the same dates at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville...Cougars will be represented by 16 men competing in 11 events and 13 women competing in 10 events at the West Region...for the list of WSU competitors see page 2 of this release...the top 48 declared athletes in each event at the West Regional meet will be vying for the top 12 spots which will advance to the NCAA Championships, June 11-14 at Hayward Field in Eugene.

ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES
Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 41st season with the Cougar track program; 20th year as a head coach, 19th year as mentor to the combined men’s and women’s program...Sloan (decathlon/heptathlon) is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell (throws) and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald (hurdles/relays), Ellannee Richardson (sprints/relays), Matt McGee (jumps) and cross country coach Tim Riley (distance)…volunteers include Caroline Austin (distance), Veronica Elseroad-Wall (hurdles), Oliver Henry (throws), and Emma Kertesz (distance).
