COUGARS HOSTING PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 29th Annual Women’s and 84th Annual Men’s Pac-12 Conference Track and Field Championships are May 17 & 18, at WSU’s Mooberry Track Complex...WSU will be represented by 28 men and 26 women competing...scoring is 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1...2013 WSU men finished 9th (45 pts.) and the WSU women were 8th (42 pts.)...online results at www.pac-12.org...all tickets are general admission and can be purchased online at wsucougars.com...prices are: 2-Day Pass - Adult $15, Youth (ages 2-17) $8, Seniors (60 & up) $8, WSU Student $5...1-Day Pass - Adult $10, Youth (ages 2-17) $5, Seniors (60 & up) $5, WSU Student $3...Live Results can be viewed at www.pac-12.org...tape-delayed broadcasts are May 25, 26 and 27, on the Pac-12 TV Networks...Paul Sunderland, Tom Feuer and Ato Bolden are announcing.

BROOKS-JOHNSON RUNNER-UP AT PAC-12 HEPTATHLON
WSU freshman Alissa Brooks-Johnson (Doty, Wash.) scored a PR 5,325 points for second place...score is seventh-best all-time at WSU...tallied PRs in the javelin and the 800m run...USC frosh Amalie Iuel won with 5,378 points...the 53-point margin of victory is the closest since 2005 when WSU’s Julie Pickler scored 5,569 points to edge out twin sister Diana Pickler (5,563) for the title...team scores after the heptathlon: USC (10), WSU (8), Arizona (6), UCLA (5), California (4), Oregon (3) and Colorado (3).
ABOUT  THE COUGAR COACHES
Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 41st season with the Cougar track program; 20th year as a head coach, 19th year as mentor to the combined men’s and women’s program...Sloan (decathlon/heptathlon) is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell (throws) and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald (hurdles/relays), Ellannee Richardson (sprints/relays), Matt McGee (jumps) and cross country coach Tim Riley (distance)…volunteers include Caroline Austin (distance), Veronica Elseroad-Wall (hurdles), Oliver Henry (throws), and Emma Kertesz (distance).
KRISTINE FELIX IS DEFENDING PAC-12 POLE VAULT CHAMPION
In 2013, Kristine Felix became the first Cougar woman to win the pole vault at the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships...a freshman from Wailuku, Hawai’i, Felix cleared the bar at 13-4 1/4 (4.07m) on her first attempt for the win...mark moved Felix to third-best in WSU all-time records and eclipsed the school freshman record of 13-2 1/4 (4.02m) by Tamara Diles in 2001.
