Cougars Compete at Mt. SAC Relays

Washington State track and field teams will send 32 competitors this week to the 56th Annual Mt. SAC Relays “Where the world’s best athletes compete” at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif., April 17-19...competitors from high schools, community colleges and universities, and the elite division flock to Hilmer Lodge Stadium...WSU Head Coach Rick Sloan coached at Mt. SAC (1972-73) was inducted into the Mt. SAC Relays Hall of Fame in 2006...distance racing takes place Thurs., April 17...majority of collegiate events are Friday, April 18...complete results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com, when available after the meets...five Cougars are also competing at the Oregon Relays, April 18-19 in Eugene...for a list of WSU competitors for each meet, see page 2.
ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES
Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 41st season with the Cougar track program; 20th year as a head coach, 19th year as mentor to the combined men’s and women’s program...Sloan (decathlon/heptathlon) is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell (throws) and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald (hurdles/relays), Ellannee Richardson (sprints/relays), Matt McGee (jumps) and cross country coach Tim Riley (distance)…volunteers include Caroline Austin (distance), Veronica Elseroad-Wall (hurdles), Oliver Henry (throws), and Emma Kertesz (distance).
WSU TRACK & FIELD REUNION MAY 16-18
All Washington State University track and field former student-athletes are invited to a commemorative reunion and celebration in honor of Head Coach Rick Sloan’s 40 years with the Cougars program. The Reunion and Celebration will be held in conjunction with WSU hosting the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships at the Mooberry Track Complex May 16-18, 2014.
