COUGARS BEGIN OUTDOOR SEASON WITH DUAL MEET AT UCLA
The Washington State University track and field teams travel to Los Angeles this weekend to start the 2014 outdoor season with a dual meet against UCLA, Saturday, March 22, at Drake Stadium on the UCLA campus...scoring is 5-3-1 for individual events and 5-0 for relays...Drake Stadium features a grass infield and a 400m nine-lane track with each land 48” wide with a 136 degree radius on the turns...first event of the day is the women’s hammer throw at 9 a.m...first running event of the day is the women’s 5000m at 11:30 a.m...final event of day is women’s 4x400m relay at 3 p.m...results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com when available after the meet...a small contingent of Cougar men will also compete Friday, March 21, at the Whitworth Buc Scoring meet in Spokane.

Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 41st season with the Cougar track program; 20th year as a head coach, 19th year as mentor to the combined men’s and women’s program...Sloan (decathlon/heptathlon) is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell (throws) and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald (hurdles/relays), Ellannee Richardson (sprints/relays), Matt McGee (jumps) and cross country coach Tim Riley (distance)…volunteers include Caroline Austin (distance), Veronica Elseroad-Wall (hurdles), Oliver Henry (throws), and Emma Kertesz (distance).
WSU HOSTS 2014 PAC-12 TRACK & FIELD OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Washington State University hosts the 29th Annual Women’s and 84th Annual Men’s Pac-12 Conference Track and Field Championships at the Mooberry Track Complex in Pullman. The Combined Events Championships are Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, while the individual events and team scoring continues the next weekend, May 17 and 18. More information about the conference meet can be found at wsucougars.com. The meet will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks on a tape-delayed basis the following week.
