PULLMAN, Wash. -- Keegan Shea and Kaytlyn Coleman won the weight throw events Friday at the WSU Open II Indoor Meet at the WSU Indoor Facility on the Pullman campus.
Shea, from Whitworth, and Idaho’s Kyle Rothwell both threw the men’s 35-pound weight distance of 57-feet 7 inches (17.55m) but Shea was the winner based on the competitors’ second-best tosses of the day.
WSU’s Travis Pickett (sophomore, Snohomish, Wash.) was third in the men’s weight throw with a threw of 56-10 1/4 (17.33m) while Sam Wardell (sophomore, Post Falls, Idaho) threw a lifetime-best distance of 49-5 1/2 (15.07m) which was sixth place.
Coleman, from Lewis-Clark State, won the women’s 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 59-7 1/2 (18.17m).
The WSU Open II meet continues Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with the women’s long jump while the first running event, the women’s 60m hurdles, starts at 10 a.m. There is no charge for spectators to watch the meet.
