ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- A select number of Washington State track and field competitors produced solid marks Friday night at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational indoor meet at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Charlotte Muschamp (redshirt junior, Edendale, New Zealand) high jumped a height equal to her lifetime-best of 5-feet 10 inches (1.78m) to tie for fourth place. Audrey Ketcham took 17th with a high jump clearance at 5-4 (1.63m).
Dominique Keel ran a season-best 200m time of 24.45 seconds for 17th and Danielle Darden ran a PR time of 24.90 for 35th. Also in the women’s 200m, Bria’una Watley ran a season-best time of 25.02 (40th) and Christiana Ekelem ran a time of 25.28 (46th). Zoe Moller long jumped 17-3 1/4 (5.26m) for 26th.
In the men’s 200m, Andre McBride ran a season-best 21.90 for 32nd while Terrance Chambers’ time of 21.94 was 33rd and Alex Olobia’s time of 22.72 was 60th.
Austin Sodorff cleared the pole vault bar at 16-6 3/4 (5.05m), his PR height, for seventh place. John Brenteson cleared 15-7 (4.75m) for 12th place. Cole Smith high jumped 6-6 (1.98m) to finish 13th. PJ Benedictus long jumped 22-9 1/4 (6.94m) for 12th.
SEATTLE -- Washington State track and field participants were also competing at the Husky Classic Friday night at the Dempsey Indoor Facility.
Freshman decathlete Dino Dodig (Novi Sad, Serbia) finished fourth in the men’s pole vault with a PR clearance of 15-1 3/4 (4.62m).
In the men’s 5000m Invite race, Drew Jordan ran a time of 14:10.79 for 19th place. Cougars running in the 5000m race included Andrew Kimpel with a PR time of 14:04.93 for sixth place and Andrew Gonzales with a PR time of 14:07.21 for 11th. Forrest Shaffer’s time of 14:34.57 was 41st and John Whelan ran a time of 14:43.38 for 57th.
CharLee Linton won the first heat of the women’s 5000m but her PR time of 17:07.81 was 25th overall.
Rashaun Johnson took third place in the men’s 200m dash with a time of 22.28 while Kyle Farmer was 15th with a time of 22.83. In the women’s 200m, Holly DeHart ran a time of 25.48 for 19th and Mimi Brown’s time of 26.25 was 38th.
Travis Pickett threw the men’s 35-pound weight 56-6 1/2 (17.23m) for 17th place and Sam Wardell heaved a distance of 46-5 1/2 (14.16m) for 30th.
Competition continues at both the Don Kirby Elite and the Husky Classic Saturday.
