Michaela Ahlin Earns Ninth Place Finish at World University Games

BELGRADE, Serbia - Washington State University swimmer Michaela Ahlin finished ninth in the 200 butterfly at the World University Games, Friday.

A native of Tyreso, Sweden, Ahlin was 10th in the preliminaries with a time of 2:14.57. In the semifinals, she lowered her time to 2:14.27 and missed the cut for the final (top eight advanced) by 0.25 seconds. Her finish was the second best by a Swedish swimmer at the Games with one day of competition remaining.

Fellow Cougar, Rugile Mileisyte was second in her heat and 23rd overall in the 50 freestyle. A native of Alytus, Lithuania, Mileisyte bested 31 swimmers with a time of 26.21 and was just 0.15 seconds shy of qualifying for the semifinals.

Swimming events conclude, Saturday.
