MOSCOW, Idaho - The Washington State University women's swim team is now 5-0 with a 149-55 win against Idaho Friday. The undefeated record is the best start for the Cougars since a 7-0 start during the 1978-79 season. The win also brought the series record between the two schools to 10-0 since Idaho rebooted its season in 2004.
WSU dominated throughout the night taking first-place in all 11 events and kicked off the meet with a one-two finish in the 400 medley relay.
Junior Michaela Ahlin finished the day with a first-place finish in both the 100 fly (56.29) and 500 free (5:07.80).
Sophomore Talor Whitaker had a first-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 24.20 and a second-place finish in the 100 fly (58.38).
Four more Cougars recorded first-place finishes including sophomore Shawna Keller in the 400 IM (4:35.26), sophomore Rugile Mileisyte in the 100 free (51.77), senior Afton Pickett in the 100 back (58.59) and senior Elyse Peterson in the 100 breast (1:04.33).
WSU rounded out the day with a victory in the 200 free relay with a finish time of 1:35.92.
The Cougars take one day off before facing Boise State Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
