WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Michaela Ahlin will finish her collegiate career this weekend at the 2010 NCAA Swimming Championships. The Tyreso, Sweden native will begin Thursday morning with preliminaries of the 500 freestyle. Ahlin has also qualified to compete in 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly which will take place Friday and Saturday, respectively. The trio of events are the same three she competed in at the 2009 NCAA Championships.
Ahlin's highest ranking is in the 200 fly where she is seeded 21st with a time of 1:56.89, which she swam at the Short Course Nationals Dec. 5, 2009. Her season-best finishes in the 200 fly (53.68) and 500 free (4:47.77) at the Pac-10 Championships put the senior at 39th and 60th in the nation, respectively. Ahlin broke WSU records in both of the butterfly events at the NCAA Championships last year.
