Erin McCleave Wins Silver Medal in Australia

Melborne, Australia - Erin McCleave, a former Cougar standout on the swim team, completed competition at the Australian Short Course Nationals. McCleave competed in five events and posted four personal bests.

McCleave took the silver medal in the 1500 meter freestyle event in a time of 16:15.69. The time ranks McCleave third in the world as of Monday.

McCleave placed fifth in the 400 meter freestyle in a time of 4:09.84 and is currently ranked 33rd. McCleave also took home a pair of seventh place finishes in the 200 meter freestyle (1:59.83) and the 800 meter freestyle (8:43.35).

McCleave competed in the 100 meter freestyle as well, swimming the event in 57.42 seconds.

McCleave will be competing next at the Grand Prix Meet in Minneapolis in November.
