EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - The Washington State 400m medley relay team of Afton Pickett, Elyse Peterson, Michaela Ahlin and Erin McCleave took first place in their heat and second place overall Saturday at the final day of competition at the U.S. Spring National Championships in East Meadow, N.Y. The group combined for a time of 4:18.56.

Erin McCleave finished fourth overall in the 1500m freestyle with a time of 16:41.42. McCleave placed firs in her heat with that time.

Shawna Keller was the first Cougar in the water Saturday as she swam a time of 2:29.28 in the 200m individual medley. Erin McCleave, Elyse Peterson and Michaela Ahlin each competed in the 50m freestyle event. McCleave paced the trio, finishing 59th overall with a time of 27.22. Peterson's final time was 28.81 while Ahlin turned in a time of 29.10 in the event.

WSU finished in fifth place with a total of 116 points.
