Cougar Swimming Heads to Austin for Grand Prix

THIS WEEK: The Washington State University swimming team will take part in USA Swimming Austin Grand Prix...the three day event will be start Jan. 14 and run through Jan. 16...the meet will be conducted in a 50 meter pool as opposed to Gibb Pool which is only 50 yards...prelims will start each day at 9:30 a.m. local time with finals following at 5:30 p.m...for more information on the event, as well as live results, click HERE

LAST TIME OUT: Washington State is 5-1 in dual meets this season after suffering its first loss of the season at the hands of UCLA 166-90, Jan. 7...Rugile Mileisyte won the 100 backstroke while Talor Whitaker earned first-place points in the 200 individual medley.

2009-10 RECAP: The Cougars went 2-4 last season with wins against Northern Arizona and Seattle...team finished the season with 11 WSU all-time top-10 performances and set two school records...senior Michaela Ahlin represented the Cougars at the NCAA Championships for the second-consecutive year.

2010-11 SQUAD: The squad returns 14 letterwinners including seniors Jennifer Dean, Rugile Mileisyte and Talor Whitaker...trio of senior leaders hold three individual school records, contributed to five relay records and 13 spots on the Cougars' all-time top-10 lists...team also welcomes nine newcomers this season.

COACHING STAFF: Head coach Erica Quam is in her ninth season at WSU...under Quam the Cougars have set 19 school records and earned 92 different spots on school's all-time top 10 lists...she is joined by assistant coach Lindsay Henahan and student assistant coach Jesse Grow...Henahan is in her third season while Grow is in his second.
