PULLMAN, Wash.-- Washington State University travels to George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., for four consecutive days of competition, Thursday, November 30 through Sunday, December 3.
Thursday, the Cougars compete in a dual meet against George Mason. The following three days, the team will be competing in the Patriot Invitational, featuring teams from George Mason, Ohio, Columbia, Boston College, Xavier (Ohio), Buffalo and others. In this meet, preliminary heats will begin at 10 a.m. EST and finals at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday.
"The meet will help serve as a rehearsal for Pac-10's and NCAA's," WSU head coach Rocco Aceto said.
WSU has a 3-0 dual meet record this season after a huge 123-82 win over intrastate rival Washington November 16. The victory was the Cougars' first against the Huskies. WSU's other wins came over San Jose State 176-85 and South Carolina 119-86.
This week's competition will be the Cougars' first outside Pullman since the team opened the season at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif., October 13-14. In that meet, WSU finished second to Pacific in a six-team field.
Cougar swimmers have recorded 16 times on the school's all-time top 10 lists this season. The following swimmers currently hold positions in WSU top 10 lists: Taryn Ternent-100 back (3rd), 100 free (3rd), 50 free (4th), Andree-Anne LeRoy-200 IM (2nd), 100 back (5th), 200 back (5th), Rachel Dong-100 fly (4th), 200 breast (5th), 100 breast (8th), 200 IM (9th), Katie Byrnes-200 back (7th), 400 IM (10th), Rachelle Carano-200 butterfly (8th), Semah Zavareh-1,650 free (8th), Sasha Taylor-200 back (9th), Christina Swanson- 100 breast (9th).
