Cougars Record Personal Bests At Pac-10 Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - The Washington State University women's swim team holds ninth place after the first day of competition at the Pac-10 Championships held at the King County Aquatics Center.

No. 12 UCLA holds the early lead with 418.5 points, followed by No. 8 Stanford (409), No. 9 USC (353), No. 7 California (301), No. 15 Arizona State (239), Arizona (217), No. 23 Washington (144.5), Washington (144.5), Oregon State (139), and WSU (95).

WSU had two swimmers record personal bests in their respective events. Senior co-captain, Lindsay Henahan moved into second place on the Cougar All-Time Top 10 list in the 50 freestyle with an 18th place finish in a time of 23.48. Henahan previously held third place with a time of 23.57.

Freshman Jane Copland recorded a WSU career best time in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:05.07. Copland remains in second place on the Cougar All-Time Top 10, breaking her previous mark of 2:05.67. She finished 21st in the event.

The only Pac-10 record of the day came in the 50 freestyle, where Natalie Coughlin of California recorded a time of 22.05.

The Pac-10 competition will continue tomorrow at the King County Aquatics Center. Preliminary heats for individual events will be held at 1 p.m., with finals for all events beginning at 6 p.m.
